Self-Introduction

Hello! My name is Angela and I am a sophomore at Barnard College of Columbia University. I am learning Japanese because I really enjoy Japanese culture and cuisine. Particularly, I have always enjoyed Japanese literature (albeit translated). I would like to read the Japanese version of Tales of Genji one day when I am more fluent in Japanese.

For the first two weeks of class, I found the memorization of hiragana characters to be intimidating. Although these characters look somewhat familiar to me, at a closer look, I found that each character had its own nuance and required special attention to identify one from another. Overall, I am very excited to begin my blog and my adventure in Japanese.
